A trench coat is one of the my favorite transitional pieces. It probably helps that I can actually wear them regularly in LA. If you don’t have one yet, now is the perfect time to invest in one. The silhouette is classic and timeless, so you know you’ll be able to wear it for years.
You don’t have to break the bank to get a great trench, though. As always, we can count on Everlane for stylish, affordable takes on classics like their trench. Banana Republic’s white cotton twill option is crisp as can be. I love the camel brown color of this Mango coat.
I love the oversized collar and long length of this Rag & Bone trench. Frame’s super-streamlined, modern take on a trench has minimalist buttons and no belt. Both are a little more expensive, but totally worth it.
One of our editors has a navy, red, and white plaid trench coat, and every single time she wears it someone compliments her on it. If you’re feeling bold, go big with a totally sequined trench coat from Staud. Or how about a denim trench? One of my go-to looks is denim on denim, and this is a fresh way of doing it with a jeans and a white t-shirt.
The feminine pleating on this Sandro trench gives you movement and modern lines in one gorgeous combination. The classic khaki color means it’s not too out there, and will still go with everything. The oversized eyelet collar on this Sea coat is another way to play up the pretty, while keeping it in the classic color palette.
Finally, if you really want a statement investment piece, this mixed suiting trench from Sacai is the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. Sharp tailoring and a classic shape, but with a delicious palette of navy and olive green for the most colorful neutral you’ll ever see.
