The wide leg revolution is here, my friends. It’s time to put away your skinny jeans for the season and embrace a wider silhouette! There’s a lot to love about wide leg jeans. They’re super flattering, make your legs look longer, and are easy to dress up. Below, our wide leg jean edit for fall.
Now, there are a few different ways you can do wide-leg denim. The most common for our age? Keeping it more fitted at the waist and flaring out the leg. These have more of a 70s feel, like these dark wash Veronica Beard flares. Gap has a great pair with some fun pocket details. I love Frame’s Palazzo jean, but it can be a lot of fabric to pull off. That’s why the slightly cropped version is easier to wear for me – and all the better to show off my favorite shoes.
Then there’s the kind I gravitate towards: a pair of jeans that looks like tubes. It’s straight up and down creating the illusion you’ve stepping into a pair of rigatoni. It’s more fashionable than it sounds, I promise. These Joe’s Jeans are a great example, which would look incredibly chic with a black tissue turtleneck and a really great belt. This pair of Veronica Beard Taylor jeans is a brighter, more casual blue and I love the Banana Republic Icon jeans too.
Did you see Demi Moore on the cover of the recently re-launched J.Crew catalogue? She’s wearing her own J.Crew denim from twenty years ago, and it looks amazing. I especially loved the slightly dropped crotch on it. Normally, I would be scared of something like that but these ME + EM mid-rise jeans feel doable. These Good American jeans in a deep indigo color are another great starter pair.
