A Winter Travel Uniform You Can Count On

Feel first class, no matter how you're traveling.

A Winter Travel Uniform You Can Count On

The most important thing when you’re traveling? Being very comfortable, and being very organized. Luckily, our guide will help you be both! Whether you’re going on a weekend getaway or going cross-country for a family filled holiday weekend, our edit can make any travel itinerary feel first class.

When it comes to comfort, you start at your feet and work your way up. I don’t love flying in sneakers because I want to feel a little more put together than I do going to pilates. Plus, it’s nice to feel like I can hit the ground running if I need to. These pointy-toed Vagabond boots are the perfect compromise.

With your feet taken care of, make sure you’re swathed in the cozy fabrics so your skin never has to touch an airplane seat. For me, that means layers! I like to start with a cashmere sweater. J.Crew has a cable-knit cashmere sweater this season that’s the perfect amount of oversized. I love it in beige or black, but the red is a festive choice. Throw on a long sleeve t-shirt underneath to make sure you’re still well-covered when you’re boarding and it gets too hot.

Here’s the winter part: you need to bring a coat with you. Ideally, a puffer. Personally, I prefer a more cropped version. Yes, it feels a little more fashionable, but more importantly, it’s much easier to travel with. I love the patent leather shine of this Quince puffer, but if you need a heavy-duty option their long parka is as sleek as you can get. Throw on a cashmere wrap and you’ll be ready for anything.

I am truly obsessed with Alex Mill’s canvas travel tote. I love my beat-up LL Bean Boat and Tote as much as the next girl, but there’s always something alluring about standing out. I love the canvas, the shiny silver hardware, and the Warhol-esque pop art inspired monogram.

All of our recommendations are curated by Susan & the In The Groove editorial team. In some, but not all cases, we receive a small commission for leading you to what, how, and where to buy all this wonderful stuff.
