Once upon a time, natural deodorants were something your kooky aunt bought in the wellness store. It’s come a long way since then. With the wellness movement not slowing down anytime soon, natural deodorants are starting to get a little bit of shine.
What’s wrong with regular deodorant? As we learned in an interview with Freedom Deodorant founder Ira Kaganovsky Green, there’s a lot wrong with it. Mostly, the aluminum. After three of her friends were diagnosed with breast cancer, Green started her deodorant company. She goes on to say, “Aluminum is the big one that scares everyone. When I spoke with the chemist, they said it’s an amount that is under the limit. But what they’ve never tested for is what happens if you use it over and over again for thirty or forty years.”
With that in mind, we dug around to find the best smelling (and looking) natural deodorants on the market right now. We found some truly chic stuff, and we can vouch that it actually works. Some of our favorites include the Corpus stick over at Violet Grey, which has a really wonderful floral scent. GOOP swears by Ursa Major, and of course there’s our favorites over at Freedom.
