What I’m Loving For November

Skirts are having a moment again.

What I’m Loving For November

For the first time since before COVID, it feels like certain pieces and silhouettes are ushering in a whole new aesthetic era. Everything old is new again, especially the 90s. Do you remember the chic, minimalist long skirts and sweaters of Carolyn Bessette? That’s what I’m loving for November. Tailored pieces, fresh takes on pearls, comfy sweaters, and a little bit of extra flair with Western-inspired details.

Let’s break it down by component. First, we start with the skirt. The skirt feels SO fresh and truly new, but it’s important to get one that feels right for you. I’m into the super-tailored vibe, and this Raey skirt ticks all my boxes. It’s also what I’m wearing in the header image! Ceffin’s wool-blend skirt has a higher-waist and a more of an A-line shape, so it’s a little more forgiving.

Do you want something with a little bit of swing in it? I love this satiny Mango midi skirt that feels dressy, and they also have a pleated skirt for slightly preppier vibes.

Next up: a neutral-y cozy sweater. If you really want to splurge, you can’t go wrong with a Jenni Kayne cashmere turtleneck. COS’s funnel neck sweater is on repeat for me, and is a more affordable cashmere option. La Ligne’s oatmeal-colored recycled cashmere sweater would also work!

Let’s finish it off with a shoe. Knee-high boots are having a moment, but right now I’m more into a Western-inspired version than the usual riding boots. I’m wearing a vintage pair in the header, but these Franco Sarto and these Lucchese boots have a similar vibe.  Free People has a slightly spooky spiderweb version that’s fun, or maybe you are sick of black boots and just want this camel-colored Khaite pair.

Pearls are having a moment. The traditionally prim and proper pearls have gotten a modern makeover by pairing them with gold chains or other metals, like in this Kenneth Jay Lane necklace or this Chico’s necklace (yes, Chico’s!). Or go for a more classic look with a twist, like this Martha Calvo necklace that is strung on a neon cord for flashes of color.
