Ballet flats are quickly become the shoe of the season, again. I don’t know when it happened but I’ve even started reaching for them over my beloved Birkenstocks. They bring such a beautiful, elegant touch to any outfit – whether you want to balance out your new wide leg denim or a midi dress you always can count on. From splurge-worthy designer flats to really good dupes, we found the best spring ballet flats.
I’ve been a fan of Margaux for years, and their emphasis on inclusive sizing for women’s shoes from size 3 to 14 and three different widths. Their The Pointe shoe is an absolute classic, especially in a chic beige color that keeps the bow from feeling too sweet. J.Crew has another classic shape at an even more affordable price and it’ll go with everything in black.
For an edgier take on ballet flats, skip the bow and go for a pair that cuts higher on the foot. Everlane’s Italian Leather Day Glove shoe is the one that made me fall back in love with the shoe, because it feels a little unexpected and adds a bit of contrast to any outfit. Tory Burch’s tomato red ballet flat with black detailing uses the unexpected color palette to keep the shoe from feeling too femme.
Chances are, if you’ve been around the ballet flat block before like I have, you already have a much loved older pair. Maybe you want to push your boundaries a little with a splurge-y, statement pair! Prada’s padded leather pair is a favorite of mine, and they look like something between a slipper and a ballet shoe. Khaite, a new up-and-coming favorite, has a black pair crisscrossed with sequins that you could easily dress up or just throw on with your favorite jeans. Or if you’re looking for the new classic, look no further than The Row’s flat black Mary Janes and are the epitome of quiet luxury.
