Winter Whites Are The Easiest Way To Look More Expensive

The perfect balm for grey winter days.

Winter Whites Are The Easiest Way To Look More Expensive

Monotone dressing is the easiest way to elevate any look. But when that color is white? You’re going to look expensive. With everyone else in bright red and sequins during the holidays, an all white outfit is the perfect palate cleanser. Just don’t forget to slip a Tide pen in your purse!

The easiest way into all white? Keeping it comfortable. There are so many easy, cute sweaters you can throw on like you would a white t-shirt in the summer. Jenni Kayne is the master of everyday effortlessness, and this crewneck sweater or this knit number will both easily fit into your wardrobe. Bloomingdale’s in-house cashmere line is still great, and the brushed aspect of this sweater will add some much needed texture to any outfit.

If you’re going to wear all-white, you need to have all the right layering pieces. The more depth in an outfit, the more interesting it is! A tissue-thin long sleeve shirt is the perfect base layer.  I also love the boiled wool texture of this oversized J.Crew blazer, which would pair nicely with a sharp trouser, like this Rebecca Taylor pair. As usual, Madewell has a perfect pair of jeans that wont break the bank, if you want to keep it more casual.

White is good for more than lounging separates, too. The winter is a great opportunity to wear white in a way that doesn’t feel so bridal. Especially when it’s as beautifully tailored as this bat-wing sleeve ME + EM midi dress. Or this Jonathan Simkhai turtleneck dress! The cut of the sleeves feels especially sophisticated, and covers that pesky upper arm area I don’t always want to show. The subtle pattern keeps it from feeling too boring. And this J.Crew embroidered velvet slip skirt will be the star of any holiday party you’re still planning for.
