This fall, it’s all about texture. And right now, that means I’m wearing a lot of suede. Whether you rock it as borrowed from the boys slouchy jacket, a 70s-inspired skirt, or just add a pop of it with fun accessories, we found the best suede pieces to wear right now.
The easiest way to throw some suede into your everyday outfits? Outerwear! When you have a really great jacket, it’s the only piece of the outfit that people remember. Throwing on this Banana Republic camel coat on over a pair of your favorite sweatpants means you instantly look put together. Layering is the key to fall dressing, and this J.Crew x Alex Eagle suede shacket is wearable in so many ways. Right now, I’d throw it on over a t-shirt. But later, when it starts getting cold for real, I’d put it on over a thick wool turtleneck or under a heavier cloth coat.
But you can also go for a suede jacket with a little more polish. When the jacket is tailored in a sharper way, it becomes even more of a showstopper. Veronica Beard is really great at this, like this army green number or this sandy, military-inspired jacket with really fantastic buttons. I love my old, beat-up Burberry trench coat, but this Mango chocolate brown trench is definitely a step up.
If you’re looking to inject suede into other areas of your wardrobe, fear not. There are tons of options! I love the look of suede pants with a crisp white button down or extra cozy big sweater, especially in a rich neutral like these camel La Ligne pants with a drawstring or these Mango brown trousers with just the right amount of 70s flair. You can also wear this season’s hot knee-high boots with a great skirt, like this updated pencil skirt from Veronica Beard.
