To know me is to know I think a great white tee is an absolute wardrobe essential. It’s the one piece that can take you anywhere. I love a white tee with great jewelry, a pair of jeans, and sandals—and you’re done. Need to dress it up? Add a blazer or a cashmere sweater with a great pair of pants. Voilà! Instant put together outfit.
If I’m being honest, my white tees have become a bit of a security blanket for me. I have a lot, but I’m always on the hunt for the perfect white tee: the right fit, the right fabric, the right neckline, the right sleeve…all at a reasonable price.
Nothing is ever truly perfect but I did find some really great options. So I ordered four tees I hadn’t tried before and put them to the test. For reference, I ordered all size smalls, which is what I typically wear.
J.Crew Vintage Jersey Crewneck, $34.50

A really nice surprise. The fit is great, the sleeves hit at just the right length, and the price point is very friendly (and often on sale). The fabric is a bit thinner than the others, but it didn’t bother me. So I would say a solid, everyday go-to.
Karla Welch for Spanx Everyday Tee, $48

I was very curious about this one because Karla Welch is a stylist I really admire. The fabric is a bit heavier, which gives it more structure, and the neckline detail is really well done. It feels polished but still easy—and the price is reasonable. Elevated, but still effortless!

I’m already a fan of their long sleeves and pointelle tees, so I had high expectations. This one delivers with beautiful fabric, great fit, and I know from experience their pieces hold up really well. This is a great investment basic.
Sold Out NYC Iconically Soft Perfect Tee, $90

This one ended up being my favorite. It’s definitely a bit more fashion-forward, with a more intentional fit and a really nice weight to the fabric. It feels like the kind of white tee you can build an entire look around. It is a little pricier than the others but in this case, I think it’s worth it.
