The Cardigan Is A Transitional Season Must-Have

The perfect layering piece for right now.

The Cardigan Is A Transitional Season Must-Have

It doesn’t have to be cold to be sweater weather. The cardigan, especially in a featherweight cashmere or a cotton knit, is the perfect sweater for the transitional season. Wear them over a t-shirt, or on their own for some extra va-va-voom.

Los Angeles summer extends all the way through September, and sometimes even October, but the mornings and nights have started to cool down a bit. That’s why I’ve been reaching for my thinnest knits more than ever. They’re the perfect layering piece!  Leset’s jersey cardigan is super-thin, almost more like a long-sleeve t-shirt than a proper sweater. It’ll help keep the chill of blasting A/C at bay! The deep emerald green hue is also a great color for transitional weather. J.Crew’s jersey cardigan is great too, at a fraction of the price.

When winter rolls around, a fitted cashmere cardigan is one of my go-tos for date nights or even just drinks with the girls. It looks good with everything! A midi skirt, leather pants, the right pair of jeans. All you need is a pair of ankle boots and a fun coat for a sexier look without showing too much skin. The Quince cardigan hits around the hips, which I love because you have a lot of different styling options. I love this cropped grey Tuckernuck one that I’m going to wear with a high-waisted pair of pleated trouser. And of course, when it comes to cashmere, you can always rely on J.Crew. Their perfect cashmere cardigan comes in seven colors, but I’m partial to this muted olive color or a bright snowy white.

Finally, a cardigan is a great way to inject some texture into your everyday uniform. Texture makes everything more interesting! I’m eyeing this chocolate brown cable knit number from Tuckernuck. It’s a little bit chunkier than other options, and I love the gold buttons which feel like jewelry. And of course, there is always Ralph Lauren. Their classic cable knit in navy skews preppy, but you can tone it down with jeans or even sweats to add polish.
