I’m always impressed by COS. It’s affordable, but still made out of quality fabrics. In fact, the pieces often look just as expensive as the pricier things in my closet. The collection is full of clean lines, interesting silhouettes, and the right amount of texture to get us excited for fall.
If you asked me to pick my favorite COS category, I wouldn’t be able to. But if you asked me what COS pieces I wear the most? I’d tell you it’s the basics. Basics that, excuse me for being corny, are anything but basic like this perfectly boxy mock white tee or this just oversized enough white button down shirt. This is a brand that understands the power of a great detail, like the attached belt on this white shirt for a refined, defined waist. Or thumbholes in their luxurious long sleeve perfect for tucking into your favorite trousers.
Trousers were my gateway drug into COS. They have the polished, professional but cool feeling of old Phoebe Philo or my beloved (now defunct) Raey. Straight leg jeans in dark indigo that can be dressed up or down, perfectly preppy khaki pants, and black pleated wool pants instantly elevate any of the tops already in your closet.
COS can always be counted on for a few unique and singular pieces that make a statement but are infinitely wearable. Their coats and jackets are unique and look much more expensive than their actual price tag. This khaki cropped trench comes with a detachable hood that ties like a vintage scarf at your neck. It’s very Audrey Hepburn! It’s not just coats, either. The bubble hem revival is happening, and COS’s maxi skirt is my favorite iteration so far. And then there is my favorite piece of the collection: a super-comfortable sweater dress with an attached scarf detail. It’s very, very chic – and begging to be personalized with your favorite old brooch.
