Dickies: Always Consensual

The dickey is back and just like us, it got better with age.

Dickies: Always Consensual

Remember the dickey? It first appeared in the early sixties and its’ special genius was making us all look like a Holden Caulfield preppie. The dickey innovation made the turtleneck under the button down look achievable and easy. Which, unless you were lucky enough to have a mother who knitted real wool, it was mostly made of polyimide and was fresh hell getting over your head. Well darlings, the dickey is back and surprisingly, it got better with age.

The old garment is now beautiful, sleek, and even chic. It offers all the benefits of a secondary collar, without any of the bulk—and who doesn’t want less bulk? The dickey elevates your sweater game to new heights. These little collars of joy are the ultimate “two-fer”, invest and you ’ll get two tops for the price of one.

The Olympia in Black and White, $98

LeCou is a small Portland-based company who design and manufacture here in the U.S., which is a bonus. The Olympia is a dramatic, fun pussy bow in a variety of patterns.

the Olympia in Navy Floral, $88

And when they collaborated with Rifle Paper, this imaginative collar was born. Under a black or navy pullover or buttoned up cardigan sweater…divine.

Veronica Beard Upstate Dickey, $250

And how about when you want the look of a chunky sweater but can’t stand how that feels under your jacket? This is ideal and gorgeous and luxe from Veronica Beard.

I Got Collared Dickeys, $24.99

We can’t help ourselves, lately, we are ” all leopard all the time” This way you get the trend without having to house the whole cat.

Anzermix Peter Pan Fake Collar, $9.99

And for those who are a little unsure about the whole thing, here’s a basic to get you started: Low risk, high reward.

Comment PODCAST, and we’ll DM you the link to the Comment PODCAST, and we’ll DM you the link to the episode! Today we have an extra special episode as our season 1 finale... Instead of asking, “So when do I...?” we’re asking something a little deeper: What would we have told our younger selves?
We’re talking about all the things we wish we knew sooner, like trusting our gut, worrying a little less, taking more risks, and not waiting for the “perfect” moment to start something new. And we brought in the most perfects guests to allow us to reflect: our daughters! Today, we are truly having a generational conversation with advice, reflection, and a little reality check because, honestly, there a few moments when they’re teaching us. It turns out that we are, in fact, all still it figuring out at every age.
