The weather in LA is finally turning, which means it’s finally time to dive into fall dressing. There are a few key pieces defining the look this year. Think lots of leopard, tons of texture with suede, and updated basics like v-neck sweaters and dark wash jeans. Shop our favorites now.
Let’s start with a showstopper: the leopard print coat. Every fashion It Girl seems to be taking a walk on the wild side this season with a flashy statement coat. You don’t need to look (or even spend) like a top model to pull it off. I love Mint Velvet’s velvet number and Mango’s knee-length coat, both giving you a lot of look for the price tag. If you’re in the mood to splurge, La Ligne’s stunning calf-hair number will last you a lifetime.
For the first time in a few years, I’m reaching for my v-necks first. I love Banana Republic’s super deep-v lightweight sweater. It looks very chic with a t-shirt layered underneath. On the opposite end of the spectrum, J.Crew’s super high and tight v-neck reminds me of Carolyn Bessette’s street style photos. Just throw on a pair of dark wash jeans, slip into a practical but sexy pair of slingback heels, and you’re ready for whatever the day might throw at you.
A suede bag is the most autumnal accessory I can think of, especially in a rich earth tone. Save the black leather for when the sun sets at 5pm! Tory Burch has been really fantastic lately, but the purses have been a stand out for me. The Romy suede bucket bag in a vibrant olive shade can be worn crossbody for day, or by a dainty top handle at night. It also comes in a hobo silhouette, big enough for hauling but still sleek and chic. The best part? Both purses are under $500, which is about as good as it gets for a designer bag these days.
