Every year when August hits, I start dreaming about fall fashion. While we can’t pull out our leather and cashmere yet, a perfect pair of jeans can scratch that itch. We found the ten best fall jeans to help you look stylish now, and later. Shop the edit below.
Wide leg is shaping up to be the silhouette of fall for trousers, so it makes sense that jeans are following suit. I love a wide-leg for fall because it can do just about anything: balance out a balance, add drama to a t-shirt, sharpen the softness of a baggy sweater. To get the look for yourself, you could try this mid-wash Mango pair, or this extra crisp Banana Republic Icon pair.
Those are more of a 70s inspired flare that make jeans feel more formal. On the other end of the wide leg spectrum, it’s all about marrying effortlessness and comfortability in an undeniably cool way. Gap’s High Rise Stride pant does a good job of making casual look pretty chic.
And yes, the skinny jean is back. It started creeping back in last fall, and there are a few pairs that are tempting me back to the skinny side of the pants spectrum. I love Banana Republic’s 90’s inspired, super sexy jean. I mean, look at them! They’re edgy but classic, vintage but modern. I’d wear it with a patent leather slingback and a fitted cotton cardigan for my next date night.
What do you think of when you think of a bootcut jean? If it’s paparazzi photos of Jennifer Aniston from the early 2000s, you’re not alone. I like this year’s version from J.Crew more, which is a darker wash and feels a little more professional. Almost like a trouser.
