It’s always exciting finding a new brand to fall in love with. Grammar NYC makes intelligent, elegant clothes that resonated with me immediately. Their shirts are standouts in a sea of white shirts, and their dresses are the perfect throw-on-and-go vibe that help you always look put together. With fall around their corner, it’s the right time to refresh some of your transitional wardrobe.
Let’s start with my favorite item in my wardrobe: the perfect white shirt. Grammar was started when their female founder couldn’t find her perfect button-down, and voila! The Verb Shirt was born. It’s classically tailored and shaped at the waist for a more feminine fit. The Antecedent Shirt is a take on the classic peasant blouse, and I love it in a pale, pretty pink.
I tend to gravitate towards boxier, oversized fits, so my favorite is the Adjective Tunic. It’s longer and looser than the Verb shirt, but still draped in a flattering way. The Split Infinitive Shirt also has a boxier fit, but it’s slightly more cropped. On the opposite side of things, the Conjuction Shirt is fitted and features a tie at the waist to show off your lovely shape. I love it in navy or pink, too!
After they started knocking perfect shirts out of the park, it makes sense that they would add shirt dresses to the repertoire. The Feminine Dress is a classic, retro-inspired lady-who-lunches vibe. The swing-y A line skirt, the fitted bodice and long sleeve, and the nipped-in waist make a modern must-have piece. It comes in blue, black, and pink.
Finally, the Antecedent Dress is a loose, boxy maxidress in poplin for everyone who’s having a kaftan moment. It also comes in a rich, chocolate brown satin version when you want to dress it up a little bit.
