Fall has fully arrived, even in Los Angeles, so this November I’m loving extra-cozy staples like chunky sweaters and stylish fleeces. They work just as well when I’m walking Ruby or watching Succession on the sofa. Faux leather joggers can be dressed up or down, especially if I slip into my new favorite pair of booties.
Fleece
I’m loving a high-fashion fleece moment, which is a sentence that would’ve been an oxymoron a few years ago. But as fashion has gotten more comfortable with, well, being comfortable, there have been a slew of cool fleeces on the market. Kule’s graphic, multi-colored fleece is kind of like a pop-art painting. Tory Burch has three different fleeces, each with an equally appealing color palette: green + cream + brown, raspberry + navy + pink, kelly green + vanilla + tan. J.Crew’s version is a half-zip, which means you get two trends for the price of one.
Chunky Sweater
This doesn’t really need explaining, we just really love sweaters. Especially something a little unexpected, like this cable-knit wool sweater with a built-in scarf. Keeping the cable-knit train moving, this Alex Mill turtleneck in charcoal and chunky Rag & Bone sweater are both showstoppers.
Faux-Leather
All of the leather look without any of the animal guilt, I’ve been rocking some faux-leather pieces lately that I really love. Things like this quilted jacket from Nordstrom or this long shacket are the perfect topper to any outfit. If you want a little more drama, these wide-leg flared pants from Mango will do the trick.
Booties
A pair of lug-sole booties are utilitarian enough for walks with Ruby, but chic enough for lunch out with friends. Dear Frances’s boot is the investment piece, with clean lines and just enough flair, but you don’t need to break the bank. J.Crew’s pull-on boots, these Marc Fisher boots, or these Madewell City Chelsea boots are all fantastic.
