Welcome to our very own September Issue! Everyone knows that fall fashions are the best, and it’s been so long that even old favorites feel fresh again. This month, it’s all about revisiting fall staples to wear in new and exciting ways. Leather pants, leopard print, and black boots are seasonal go-to’s, with accessory MVPs like a chic black bag and gold bracelets.
Leather pants are extremely luxe and a little bit retro, like most of the trends this year. To keep them from feeling dated, focus on the fit! Frame’s Le Sylvie pair is the high-waisted and slim-cut, with a cropped flare perfect for showing off shoes. Veronica Beard’s paperbag leather pant comes with a removable belt and a clean, tapered fit. Deadwood is a Danish brand that uses leftover pieces of leather from cutting and tanning, so their price point is more affordable. I love their wide-leg pants, especially with a slouchy cardigan and knee-high boot.
Animal print never goes out of style, but it feels especially relevant this year. J.Crew was out of the gate early with these sexy slingback, this ruffle-tie top perfect for transitional weather, and a classic fitted cardigan that works year-round. Jenni Kayne’s midi-length slip skirt is another transitional MVP, working now with sandals and later with slouchy boots and your favorite turtleneck.
Nothing says fall like a new pair of black leather boots, and a classic pair of heeled booties will serve you well. The kitten heel on this J.Crew pair feels very contemporary, and the Western influences on this Mango pair are a little trendier.
Black bags always feel like fall to me, and this year I’m falling back in love with a more structured, lady-like silhouette. This is a good place to splurge, like on this sleek Saint Laurent Manhattan bag, or this Gucci Horsebit bag. J.Crew’s woven suede-and-leather bucket bag feels just as fresh.
Finally, finish it all of with a flash of gold. I’m convinced bracelets are coming back as the next big piece of jewelry, so get your own arm party started with a gold link one from Laura Lombardi, Paco Rabanne, or Bauble Bar.
