Spring Bags That Won’t Break The Bank

Because a bag doesn't have to be designer to be stylish.

Spring Bags That Won’t Break The Bank

With designer bag prices getting more expensive every year, it’s hard to justify spending a hefty chunk of change on a new bag. And you don’t have to! There are so many brands making beautiful, high-quality purses. From lovely leather totes to a chic crossbody, shop our favorite purses now.

With spring and (hopefully) sunnier days ahead, I’m dreaming about getting a little lighter and brighter. J.McLaughliin’s beige leather tote has a delightful bamboo detail that has me dreaming of being on a beach somewhere, with crisp white jeans and sandals.

Or, you could go against the fashion rules, and swap out the dark purse for white! It pops beautifully against black or brown outfits. Dragon Diffusion’s tote is one of my go-to bags in summer. I love the woven texture, but there’s something unexpected and fresh about that in the winter time. Woven leather can have a little more weight, which helps with a heavy coat. Quince’s Bottega-look-for-less woven bag can be carried by the handle or as a crossbody.

I’ve been carrying smaller bags lately, something a little sleeker. One key element? A longer shoulder strap. It’s easier to slip over your shoulder and feels more modern. I love Reformation’s Elena bag. The longer horizontal proportions and the rich chocolate hue add an edge to any outfit. It’s also the kind of purse that looks just as good with spring colors like light blue or bright red. COS’s Nouveau bag in black is another example. It really reminds me of Chanel’s new bags, too!

I talk about texture a lot in fashion, because it’s usually the difference between a good outfit and a truly great one. A raffia bag injects texture effortlessly! Veronica Beard’s handle bag also has leather and a bamboo handle. They also make a similar silhouette with canvas and leather.
