We’re in the middle of a skirt renaissance! All of a sudden, everywhere I look, stylish women are swishing around in chic a-line skirts. It’s elegant and effortless without being fussy, and easy to style with your favorite t-shirts and ballet flats. Below, our favorite skirts for spring.
Like the very stylish women in the header image, a minimal dark-colored skirt can feel like spring when styled correctly. I love Vince’s coastal blue skirt with a little belt ring. That one stops around the knees, but if you’re looking for a longer hemline, we’ve got you (and your knees) covered! Jenni Kayne’s breezy skirt is easy to throw on with a sweater or tee. Banana Republic’s navy sateen skirt has a slit for just a sliver of skin.
With spring and summer around the corner, maybe you’re looking to brighten up your wardrobe. A pretty white skirt can make you look like you’re sightseeing in Greece, even if you’re just walking through your farmer’s market. With white, it’s fun to play around with different fabrics for different feelings. ME + EM’s cheesecloth skirt is breezy and a little wrinkled (on purpose) so it’s perfect for packing. Feeling more formal? Vince’s cotton poplin skirts with utilitarian details like a belt and canvas tape can be dressed up or down easily.
The skirts I’m most drawn to are swishy and A-line, but sometimes you need a more fitted silhouette. I love this mint-green Reformation linen skirt, which feels appropriately spring-y but can still look great with a tall boot for in between seasons. This blue-and-white striped Tuckernuck skirt is super flattering column shape. And of course, who doesn’t love a bow? Vince’s mossy green trouser skirt is still an A-line, but the swishy silk fits and flares in a different way from poplin.
