It’s the dog days of summer, which also means it’s the sweatiest days of summer. I like to keep my makeup routine at its most minimal this time of year – and these are the summer beauty must-haves that keep me looking my best.
I don’t really like wearing a full face of foundation anymore, unless someone else is applying it for a very special event. But, like anyone else, I do like having a little extra help for a more flawless complexion. Before I run out of the house, I always slather on some Supergroup! Protect(tint). It’s hydrating, color-correcting, and just the right amount of tint – all with SPF 50 built in. And when I do lean on foundation, the only one I use is Westman Atelier foundation.
As I’ve gotten older, the other product I always use might surprise you: a really good brow pencil! Filling out your brows is fast, easy, and completely frames your whole face. I love the mini size Jones Road brow pencil and how easily it draws on. Just add a coat of Ilia’s lengthening or volumizing mascaras and you’ll be ready to go!
Everything else I use is what I think of as ‘the fun stuff’. I love using highlighter in the summer, especially when I have a tan. A highly pigmented, pink-y highlighter from Westman Atelier does double duty as blush and brings dimension to your face with shimmer. It’s like an even better version of my old favorite – Orgasm by Nars. For less sparkles, Merit’s Flush Balm is an easy to apply cream blush that gives your cheeks a natural flush of color. Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks also permanently lives in my little makeup pouch.
