I’ve talked a lot about dressing for the holidays this year, but sometimes a red lip or a metallic eyeshadow can do the same thing as your favorite sequined skirt. Putting on a festive face can get me in a celebratory mood, and it’s fun to play around with makeup and maybe get a little outside your comfort zone. Put your prettiest face forward with our holiday beauty favorites.
Eyes
For me, one of the easiest ways to step up my beauty routine is by injecting color or glitter. During the holidays, I tend to reach more for the glitter. YSL’s Sequin Crush eyeshadow is extra-pigmented, creamy, and comes in a rich gold or deep midnight for the perfect late-night look. Chantecaille’s hunter-green, metallic eye shadow comes in especially beautiful packaging. Looking for something more subtle? Tom Ford’s quartet of shimmering nudes will help you build a sexy smokey eye.
A tasteful set of false eyelashes add instant drama to any beauty look, and really makes a night feel special. Blinking Beauté’s Stand Out Luxe Innovative False Lashes or Lash Star Beauty’s Visionary Lashes will help you go full glam. Falsies too much? Get a similar look with Ilia’s Fullest Volumizing Mascara, or spice it up with Dior’s navy blue XXL mascara.
Lips
Even if you change nothing else about your makeup, adding a slick of red lipstick is festive af. Dior’s Forever Liquid Transfer-Proof lipstick will stay on through every glass of champagne or bites of sugar cookie, and their Rouge Volupte is a more classic, creamy formula.
Face
A great face starts with the base, and for me, there’s nothing better than Westman Atelier’s Vital Skin Foundation stick. For something a little lighter, Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint will give you a little bit of coverage and a whole lot of glow. Just dab a little Chanel’s shimmering face gel or Ilia’s Illuminator on the high points of your face for dewey, healthy shine, Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Stick for color, and a little Setting Spray to make sure it all stays in place.
