Everyone’s washing their hands for at least twenty seconds with soap and water multiple times a day, right? And while compulsively hand washing is necessary to stop the spread of corona virus, there’s an unexpected side effect that I’m not loving. My hands look old. It is the oldest and driest they have ever looked, in fact. Luckily for me, there’s a relatively easy fix: hand cream. You want to put it on right after washing, when your hands are still slightly damp. That means your skin will lock in all that wonderful moisture.
Here are some of my personal favorites at the moment. Supergoop’s hand cream is moisturizing and protective, full of the SPF you should always be wearing but might forget about sometimes. L’Occitane’s lavender hand cream is a cult favorite for a reason. Weleda’s Ultra-Rich Hand Cream is the thick, mositurizing stuff that dreams are made of.
We’re talking about lotion, but there’s plenty of other tools to get your hands back to their former glory. Your nails and cuticles need a little love too, so lather them up with this Dior Nail Cremé if you’re feeling fancy. If that’s too much, then stick with trusty Burt’s Bee’s cuticle cream, which does the job just as well for less than half as much.
And I know I’m not the only one feeling this way, because these nighttime hand cream gloves have already been backordered once during this quarantine. Get ‘em while you can! Somewhere in between a cream and a glove is this Dr. Jart Hand Hydrating Mask, which I personally did yesterday and am very happy about. The final stop in hand care? How about this Verso hand serum, which is packed with retinol 8 that helps boosts your collagen production.
