Quarantine has taught me quite a few things. I found ironing meditative now, I really miss my pilates class, and I love my Birkenstocks more than ever. Since I’ve finally gotten the hang of this quarantine thing, I thought I’d share the quarantine essentials that I rely on to keep me feeling happy, healthy, and sane.
My mornings start with getting dressed. Sometimes that means sweatpants, like Lululemon’s new joggers. They feel a little bit elevated from regular sweats, but are so comfortable. If I’m feeling ambitious that day, I might even throw on a kaftan-y maxi dress, like this printed Natalie Martin number.
Birkenstocks have always been my jam. I wear them with everything from long skirts to boyfriend jeans to khakis to dresses. If you’re just now joining the Birkenstock fan club, welcome! You’re going to love it. Start with these shearling-lined black Boston birks if you’re still in the cold weather. Or this big buckle slide version if you’re in the sunshine.
Every morning, I make sure to take my Ritual Essential Vitamin. I make a juice out of celery and other healthy green stuff with my new juicer, because Elissa Goodman told me to. I light my Cire Trudon candle because it’s just something that makes me feel good.
Working out is not the same, but I keep at it by going for long walks and doing short cardio bursts with a jump rope. And, as always, my trusty Hypervolt therapy gun is there to work out any soreness or tension from my knee. Finally, in the spirit of keeping clean, I’m obsessed with my cordless vacuum cleaner from Dyson, which is the coolest brand in the world.
