The loafer, to me, has always been a shoe to wear when summer turns to fall. Not anymore! Lately I’ve been loving the softer side to the loafer, in a less structured shape and in an array of pastels colors. Shop our spring loafer edit below.
First things first, the pair that kicked off my love affair with a spring loafer: M.Gemi’s Sacca Donna . I’m wearing a slate color in the header but I’m really loving this ballet pink shade too. I’ve been so drawn to any and all shade of pink this year which is a big change from my previous neutrals only stance! I love the wood sole that adds a little bit of balance to the candy colored sho – and the teeny tiny lift.
There’s a lot of ways to play with color! Larroude’s lilac shoe is dotted with silver hardware, a color combination I’ve always loved. I love the putty pink shade of these Tory Burch loafers which almost feel like a neutral, in case you’re trying to keep things more subtle. She also makes a cream and blue two-tone option that feels like a delicious ice cream dream. Maybe you want to go darker! Navy is the rare color that feels as at home in summer as it does in winter, and these navy suede penny loafers from Margaux are a great transitional shoe if it’s still a little chilly where you live.
Otherwise, I’ve been loving a lighter toasty brown color. It’s more caramel than saddle, and feels a lot lighter and brighter than some of the heavy dark browns that were everywhere this year. And for what it’s worth, I love brown in the summer! Tory Burch has a ballet loafer style which combines the comfort and flexibility of a ballet flat with a loafer. There’s a sleek silhouette which makes it feel a lot more suitable for spring. I really love Coach’s version, too, with moccasin-esque ruching that reminds me of some of Miu Miu’s It shoes.
