Winter is coming, folks. But don’t worry – as long as you’re properly prepared, you can spend the season looking cool instead of feeling chilly. This 3 coat edit is the key to surviving the weather, no matter what kind of climate you’re in. A puffer coat for the deep freeze era, a cloth coat when you’re feeling fancy, and a teddy coat for fun. Fall farmer’s market runs, dog walks, and even snow days won’t be able to defeat you.
Puffer Coats
Jenni Kayne’s long puffer coat adds just the right amount of style to the utilitarian style, whether in black or khaki green. J.Crew’s puffer comes in the perfect winter white shade, and i love the proportions of Banana Republic’s khaki-colored coat. On the slightly more colorful side of things, this Parajumpers navy blue puffer is beautiful and this OOF Wear mint green jacket is a showstopper. If you’re feeling extra-luxe, look no further than Naadam’s cashmere puffer coat or Anthropologie’s leather puffer. Yes, you read that right.
Cloth Coats
Cloth coats can turn any outfit, even sweats, into an elegant ensemble. Especially if it’s a camel wrap coat, like this Mackage lightweight wool coat or this Harris Wharf London coat. Anine Bing’s Hunter coat in deep burgundy is a little more unusual, but still beautiful. Jenni Kayne’s oatmeal-colored peacoat is a fresh shade for the silhouette, and J.Crew’s topcoat keeps it fancy and formal in an approachable way. This Harris Wharf London coat is definitely an investment piece, but it has all the details that make it worth it: sharp and classic tailoring, a special print you won’t get sick of, and high quality fabric.
Teddy Coats
This low-key, extra-cuddly trend is one we can get behind. While MaxMara’s Teddy coat is a classic, you definitely don’t have to break the bank to get a good version. Sam Edelman’s teddy peacoat is an updated classic, and I love this dark brown hooded version too. J.Crew’s coat in cream or black is extra-fun thanks to details like the extra-large lapels and double-breasted buttons. Banana Republic’s cocoon coat is huge (think shag carpeting huge), and will be a statement piece no matter what, but I’d rock it in a monochromatic ensemble. If you do want to shell out a little bit extra, this Vanessa Bruno teddy coat is like wearing your favorite fuzzy blanket, plus the color is so rich it practically looks metallic.
