There comes a time, every year, where you just have to put function first. That time is in January when the slush and salt start to wear away at your spirit, and your shoes. We put together a list of weatherproof boots that can withstand any salty sidewalk.
Over the last few years, it feels like the fashion industry has made some pretty incredible leaps when it comes to leather technology. Look at these chunky, ankle-zip boots from La Canadienne. They’re incredibly fashionable, comfortable, and weatherproof! Or these knee-high Moncler leather rain boots. I love the nylon lining, which gives a little extra flavor to any dreary winter outfit.
Don’t ask me the science behind it, but there’s also a very impressive crop of suede boots that you no longer have to worry about ruining whenever there’s a drop of rain. These chocolate brown Michael Kors Chelsea boots have just enough of a heel to work for fun drinks or a night out. These pointed-toe, super sleek La Canadienne ankle boots don’t look the slightest bit waterproof – which makes it that much more fun to wear them.
If there’s a ski trip in your future, or more importantly, apres ski plans, you’re going to need a boot that can handle a little bit more. I love the chunkier sole of these Sorel boots, and the cute shearling accent fashion’s it up a bit. They actually remind me a lot of sneakers. If you’re looking for more of a statement, there’s also their Kinetic boot. I love the zig-zaggy sole and the earth-toned color ways. You can pick from either a rich forest green and gray color, or this more muted camel and charcoal pair.
