Oversized, fitted, casual, dressy – there’s truly a white shirt for every occasion. Year after year, it’s a staple in my closet for a reason! Our White Shirt shop is stocked with every kind of shirt you could need. Look at our white shirt shop to see all of our favorites in one place.
In the winter, I gravitate towards a heavier weight shirt. That’s right, I’m talking oxfords! Everlane’s relaxed Oxford is a great example of an everyday shirt. You can tuck it into slouchy jeans as easily as it goes with a trouser. J.Crew’s oversized Oxford isn’t as heavy as a Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers, so it feels less menswear-y.
Poplin is the fabric you want when it’s hot outside – or you don’t mind some fashionable creases. It’s so light and breathable, but you can still starch it to crisp perfection when you want to dress up. There’s a real shape to it, especially if you want something oversized like this Anthropologie Pilcro shirt. On the flip side, if you need something more fitted to easily tuck in, the darts in this Mango shirt prevent gaping and totally smooth you out.
The Garçon shirt from J.Crew is another great everyday example. It’s not too oversized, it’s not too slim, it’s just right. Plus, I love the dramatic large cuff. Also, it’s hard to beat this $23 Amazon Essentials button down. It reminds me a lot of this Frank and Eileen button down. The Amazon version is definitely thinner, but I wear mine constantly. And I don’t have to worry that a drop of coffee will ruin my shirt – and my day.
Pro-tip: I take all my button-downs to my favorite local embroiderer and get them monogrammed (in navy thread!). My favorite places are on the sleeve or right next to the belly button. It just adds an extra sophisticated touch. You can always find our favorite white shirts in our White Shirt shop, too!
