There are plenty of nice things about winter. Cashmere sweaters, hot cocoa, and the holidays for one thing. You know what I don’t love? The toll that the cold temperatures and winds and heating takes on my skin. At my age, I need moisture. And a lot of it. So, I’m sharing my winter skin recovery secret weapons so you can get the hydrated, glowing skin of your dreams.
The number one thing I change in the winter? My moisturizer. I want something heavy duty. The kind of moisturizer you lather on at night and it needs time to soak in. My go-to is the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, it’s worth it. The smaller size is a more manageable $89, if you want to get a little bit for special occasions. Of course I still have a soft spot for La Mer. And for a more budget-friendly option, there’s nothing wrong with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.
Face oils can help to instantly add moisture to your skin, but also to seal all that moisture in for the day ahead. Vintner’s Daughter is a much-named celebrity favorite, but I love my Avoila Nourishing Face Oil just as much .
Masks are another tool in my winter skincare arsenal. Of course I love the SK-II cult-favorite sheet masks, which are a delicious indulgence. Agent Nateur’s Resurfacing Glass Mask is a perfect pick me up for tired skin. If you put on Erno Laszlo’s Hydra-Memory Sleep Mask before bed, when you wake up your skin will have bounced back from whatever happened to it the day before.
Another one of my favorite winter skincare tricks is adding a little bit of moisture back into my face with the help of high-tech gadgets. Canopy’s Humidifier is pint-sized, mold-inhibiting, and helps with cold and flu season as much as your complexion.
