Skincare is never a “one-size fits all” situation, but there are certain rules that apply to everyone. For example, in the winter when the air is drier and the wind is blowing, everyone could use a little bit of extra help in the hydration department. Think face oils, balms, and masks to give your skin a little extra TLC and to keep your skin hydrated and happy all winter long. Below, our favorite winter skin routine updates.
My number one hack for winter skin? Adding more oils into my routine. I started using this DHC Deep Cleansing Oil when a friend recommended it. I love it! It leaves my skin feeling clean but without that tight feeling cleansers often give you. Vintner’s Daughter is a cult-favorite skincare brand and yes, it’s expensive. But I really think it’s worth it! I layer in the Active Botanical Serum during the winter.
Speaking of expensive skincare, there are a couple pricey brands that I really think are worth it. First of all, Augustinus Bader is completely worth the hype. You can really feel the technology behind their Rich Cream, and the same goes for Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Face Cream Rich. But you shouldn’t have to break the bank for good skincare. The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Laroche Posay’s Baume, and Dr. Jart’s Vital Hydra Solution are some of my favorite more wallet-friendly picks.
You don’t have to switch up your whole routine. Sometimes I’m nervous that adding a new product will make me break out! You can just add a special mask in for some extra pampering once or twice a week. Oak Essentials is Jenni Kayne’s skincare line, and the company has a similar ethos to their clothing: basics made with high quality ingredients. The Restorative Mask is a favorite of mine! Agent Nateur’s Holi Glass Resurfacing Face Mask is my favorite year-round, but in winter it really helps brighten up my skin tone.
