Trousers Are The New Jeans

Our favorite trousers for fall, and how to wear them.
by In The Groove October 1, 2019
Trousers Are The New Jeans

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, trousers are everywhere this season. As fashion falls back in love with dressing like a grown-up, they’ve snuck into street style slideshows and magazine shoots with an irresistible casual elegance.

There are plenty of gorgeous trousers out there, and they can be dressed up or down too easily for you to not be utilizing them. Obviously, we know the benefits of them for keeping it appropriate but still stylish at work. What we’re seeing a lot more of now is the post-Phoebe Philo at Celine effect. Stylish, confident older woman in comfortable trousers and sneakers. The high-low mix is undeniably chic and there’s something so French about the nonchalance of it.

Take these wool-blend trousers from Vince. The brand is nailing fashion’s new take on minimalism, and these pants are a perfect example. The camel color is timeless but simultaneously on-trend. The wide-leg can be dressed up dramatically with heels, but look just as good with your favorite pair of white leather sneakers. Like a dressed up pajama bottom, and almost just as comfortable. If you want a similar look for less, Ines de la Fressange just did a collaboration with Uniqlo that captures her slouchy but not sloppy style. These wool pants in navy can essentially be styled just like your favorite wide leg jeans.

If you’re looking for something a little less dramatic, then these easy pull-on pants are exactly what you need. They’re black so they go with everything, and the flattering cut means they’re incredibly versatile. You can wear them with ankle boots and a white t-shirt, or loafers and a blazer.
