12 Pairs of Ballet Flats That Prove They’re Back

The classic ballet flat is back and better than ever.

12 Pairs of Ballet Flats That Prove They’re Back

For the past few years, ballet flats haven’t been the trendiest of shoes. And that’s okay! We like trends, but we don’t live by them. Lately, though, certain brands have been bringing a little extra design love to their ballet flats. Maybe it’s because we’ve been wearing slides for forever now, but ballet flats are looking really good. Not that we’re surprised. Audrey Hepburn is never wrong.

Here’s the pair that kicked it all off: these Loeffler Randall ballet flats. I think it’s the little foot band that did it for me. There’s something so chic and delicate about it, and it looks more like an actual ballet slipper than anything else out there. J.Crew’s classic pair has a rounder toe, and the ribbon edging you’d expect from a ballet flat. I love it in a cool slate blue, just a couple shades lighter than navy. The rich mahogany shade of this pointed-toe pair is a little on the unexpected side, but I would wear with white jeans.

The Polly pair from Flattered comes in a cream leather, and has the most adorable, femme oversized bow on the top of the foot. It’s fun and playful without being too cutesy, and would look great with a cropped pair of light-wash denim.

Flattered, one of my new favorite footwear finds, has several pairs of flats with fun details. I love the quilted leather, Chanel-y vibe of this pair, and the square toe gives it a thoroughly modern edge. Their Nikki shoe is more minimalist with taupe brown leather, clean lines, and the same square toe. This Rag & Bone pair is a little more out there, but I love the rich color and the soft satin-y look. It’s still giving ballet slipper, but it’s more like a prima ballerina off-duty.
