In the summer, there’s just something crisp about summer neutrals . They’re bright and seasonally appropriate, but really refined. It’s Princess Diana and Jackie O as much as it is Instagram It Girls. And this outfit, inspired by all of those influences, is our new summer uniform. A classic white t-shirt, creamy beige jeans, and leather slip-ons have just enough polish for anything your day might throw at you – and comfortable enough that you’ll actually want to wear it.
Part of the reason this look works so well is because it’s easy: just the perfect white t-shirt and a good pair of cream colored jeans. When it comes to t-shirts, I stock up on Everlane’s Cotton Crew tee but J.Crew’s vintage-inspired cotton is cozy too. For jeans, I’ve been obsessed with Banana Republic’s more fitted, cropped pair. Gap’s high-waisted, wide-legged jeans are right on trend. Frank & Eileen’s Monaghan jeans have that perfectly worn-in, beachy vibe thanks to the frayed hems.
These black Dior sunglasses have been everywhere lately. And for good reason, too, thanks to their classic proportions that still plays with the current oversized trend. COS’s sporty rectangle pair feels like a Prada silhouette but at over half the price.
Finish the outfit off with warm accessories, like gold watches and perfectly worn in leather shoes and purses. An all-gold watch feels more like jewelry than a practical timepiece, and this Gold Timex watch is a great way to play around without spending a fortune. Movado’s all-gold stunner is a little pricier but still a better deal than some of the bigger designer names.
Saddle brown leather shoes certainly aren’t groundbreaking for summer, but they are always elegant. Tuckernuck’s pair recalls a favorite Hermes sandal, and this year I’m loving my M.Gemi’s which have more of a looping motif. Don’t forget the bag! This shopper from Mango is such a great, slouchy shape you can carry into fall. Banana Republic’s bucket bag is truly gorgeous, with white contrasting stitching and plenty of Moroccan influence.
