The boat shoe has been everywhere the last year, ever since Miu Miu came out with their reimagined version. The trend is still going as strong as ever this season. And I’m totally buying into the hype! I love their beachy, worn-in appeal and how easy they are to style. Shop our favorites now.
You probably already have the image of a boat shoe in your head, made popular by preppy high schoolers and country club Dads everywhere. Yes, I’m talking about Sperrys. These dark brown leather top-siders are a classic, and for good reason. I love these blue suede shoes (thank you Elvis) and the white sole for contrast. Jeffrey Campbell’s tan suede shoe is the perfect cross between boat shoe and moccasin, and will transition easily from beachy late nights to leafy fall mornings.
A few more fashion-y brands have put out some sleeker, more modern silhouettes. When there is a trendy shoe, you can usually beat that Tory Burch will put out a really great version. I am so into her Boaty shoe I can’t decide between two colors: a rich dark brown or a more offbeat navy and tan combination. It’s a really great, high-end look for $300.
If you really want to splurge, go straight to the source of the trend: Miu Miu. This season, they released a chocolate brown, woven suede version and it is truly delicious. A textural dream! Also up there for worth-it splurges? This driving shoe/boat shoe hybrid from Tod’s in a buttery camel suede. I love that you can see a little bit of the nubby soles. It feels just as appropriate for summer as it does for fall.
