In the gray days of January, it can feel impossible to get out of your sweats. But you can look chic and put together in real clothes that are just as comfortable as your sweats! All it takes is a pop of color, mixing some neutrals, and cozy silhouettes. Shop the outfit below.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: all you really need to look put together in winter is a fabulous coat. A long camel coat is as timeless as it gets. There are also so many great options at every price point. If you’re looking to splurge, I love the sharp-shouldered tailoring of ME + EM’s wool coat, and the pop of black buttons. Jenni Kayne’s version is a bit slouchier, and Anine Bing’s has a slightly cropped silhouette that feels a little more femme. And of course, Quince’s version is fantastic at a fraction of the price.
When it comes to sweaters, an easy way to add instant interest to any outfit is to work in some texture. The cable-knit has really had a moment this season, and there are a lot of ways to play around with it. I love the extra-large pattern of this Topshop sweater, or the more intricate pattern on this cozy Aritzia number.
Slip into a pair of comfortable, oversized black trousers instead of your usual leggings or sweats. It’s amazing how much of a difference this one change can make. I love the borrowed from the boys menswear elements of these ME + EM pants. Banana Republic’s flare pants feel a touch more formal.
I’ve been really into red lately, but it can be an intimidating color to work in. That’s why these red Adidas sneakers are the perfect entry to color. They look good with every single neutral you already have in your closet, from navy to black to brown.
