There have been several days of gray skies and hard rains in Los Angeles, which is not something I usually enjoy. The only upside? That I’ve gotten to wear my new COS raincoat when I was brave enough to venture out of the house. And with spring showers season ahead, there are plenty of gorgeous trench coats worth highlighting.
When you think of a classic trench, chances are it’s beige and double-breasted. We have plenty of those for you! Like this Mango coat, this slightly oversized Favorite Daughter one, or Everlane’s modern trench piece. I’ve also been loving a single-breasted piece, something A-line and longer that almost feels like a vintage car coat. Mango’s Carey coat and Vince’s cotton coat are both fantastic examples.
COS has become my go-to resource for fashionable outerwear at a wallet-friendly price. It’s amazing how expensive and luxurious the cut and feel of their coats are! There’s the trench I’m wearing in the header image, which has a lovely swing to it and a matching scarf reminiscent of Toteme’s famous scarf tote. A more utilitarian option is this oversized, layered coat in a creamy light beige. This charcoal gray nylon trench is convertible!! You can button and unbutton the sleeves, and the sleeveless long trench is a very sleek layering piece.
While khaki coats might stir up images of foggy London nights thanks to Burberry, there’s something so modern and fresh about a black coat. Adidas’s coat is sporty but it’s still polished and sleek enough to add pizzaz to your sweats. For some more classic proportions, J.Crew’s Icon coat is a more cropped, slim-fitting version of the coat. I love the big, swooping collar that looks especially great popped up. The double-breasted coat from J.Crew is also a charming olive green color.
