Winter Skincare: Good To The Last Drop

A little extra care goes a long way this season.

Winter Skincare: Good To The Last Drop

Your skincare routine could change with the seasons, just like your wardrobe. With cold temperatures, chilly winds, and blasting heat, your skin needs a little extra moisturizing to look its best. Shop the products we love that keep our skin glowing, no matter what the seasons throw at us.

The last thing you want to do in the winter is strip your skin of it’s natural oils. That’s why I like my cleansers to be as gentle and nourishing as possible. Ever since I started using a cleansing balm as my makeup remover, I’ve never looked back! The Elemis Naked Cleansing balm is fantastic, leaving your skin super smooth and soft. For my second cleanse, I like Damdam’s Silk Rice cleansing oil.

For my skin, there’s no such thing as too much moisturizer. And there are so many technological advances in skincare these days that there are more ways to moisturize than ever. Of course, there’s the classic cream-based. Augustinus Bader’s signature blue bottle never leaves the top of my vanity.  Lathering on the Rich Cream at night is one of my biggest indulgences. And for something a little lighter during the day, I reach for Cadaulie’s Cashmere Cream. When I need a refresh out of the house, I whip out this Dr. Devgan Barrier Balm. Packed with active botanicals in a sculptural silver vessel, it will leave you glowing without ever looking greasy.

And of course, you can never stop wearing SPF. SPF is your best friend. After many attempts with different sunscreen brands, I’ve committed to ELTA MD’s sunscreen. It goes on perfectly clear, which means no ghostlike white cast. And as a bonus, it actually preps your skin pretty well for any makeup.

All of our recommendations are curated by Susan & the In The Groove editorial team. In some, but not all cases, we receive a small commission for leading you to what, how, and where to buy all this wonderful stuff.

Comment PODCAST, and we’ll DM you this episode of Comment PODCAST, and we’ll DM you this episode of @sowhendoi. This week, we’re talking about something we all swear everyone else is worse at… but secretly know we’re guilty of too: our relationship with our phones. From scrolling at dinner to checking texts mid-conversation, we unpack how technology is quietly shaping our relationships, attention, sleep, loneliness, and even intimacy.

We talk about why being present might be the ultimate luxury, the small “baby steps” we can take to reconnect with the people right in front of us, and the simple habits that can help us feel more intentional in our relationships again. If you’ve ever felt distracted, dismissed, or wondered when we all forgot how to just be with each other, this one’s for you.
