Books Everyone Will Be Talking About This Fall

The books you won't be able to put down.

Books Everyone Will Be Talking About This Fall

It finally happened. Summer is over and the shorts have been packed away. I’m dreaming of crisp days, colder nights, and cashmere sweaters. And there is no better activity for cashmere than lounging with a book. Even being this many years out of the school cycle, it’s hard to shake the Back to School feeling. Instead of shopping for new sneakers, well, I’m still shopping for new sneakers. Instead of school supplies, I’m loading my metaphorical shopping cart (okay, Amazon cart) with prestige novels and thick nonfiction. Below is our round-up of the books we can’t wait to get through.

Cherry by Nico Walker, $13.99

Called the “first great novel about the opiod crisis”, Nico Walker is a military vet who wrote his debut book about war, love, bank robbing, and drugs. Both funny and devastating, the story already caused a bidding war for the rights in Hollywood.

Bacardi and the Long Fight for Cuba by Tom Gjelten, $13.99

A little light blue to ease the transition from summer to fall.

French Exit by Patrick deWitt, $12.99

A witty, droll novel about a dysfunctional mother-son duo (and their cat) fleeing to Paris in disgrace. So funny and stylish. Read with one ice-cold martini.

The Personality Brokers by Merve Emre, $14.99

The story of a mother-daughter duo – two writers with no formal training – who came up with the most popular personality test in the world.

Transcription by Kate Atkinson, $14.99

The best-selling Atkinson is back. You might know her from Life After Life, she’s back with a new novel about espionage, loyalty, and WWII. If you’re a fan of historical fiction, make sure to pick this one up.

Bad Blood: Secret and Lies in Silicon Valley by John Carreyou, $13.99

The gossip fest of the year turns out to be about all about the tech industry in a rapidly changing Silicon Valley startup. For fans of Silicon Valley (the TV show) and those who watch the Apple Keynote speech every year.
