If the workers unite, we suggest they do so apparelled in slightly upmarket versions of that old workhorse–the denim jacket. If you are the kind of gal, who likes to hang on to things, you probably have one or three of these buried in a closet as denim jackets do NOT die. Really, they don’t ever die, but if you are the other kind of gal, the minimalist kind, you might have to newly acquire one of these old/new jackets, because this season a denim jacket is as essential as a good blazer and a reliable hairbrush. Who among us hasn’t marveled at how equally great the jean jacket looks over a plain white t-shirt or a long dress? From a pre-breakfast ride on horseback to a predawn after-party, a denim jacket does it all.
A jean jacket will lighten the load of any more serious outfit? Wear one like this iconic Wrangler over a black knit ensemble and go from merely sophisticated to chic and cool. The cool factor gets amped up when you add a spot or two of colorful patches and basic is anything but basic with this everything denim at Nordstrom.com
Everlane has adapted what we will call a Bill Cunningham dupe, perfect for holding your camera lenses, a rainy day at home or on a road trip. Lighter in color but not lighter in weight is this great version from Topshop and we like this one because it is a little longer than most and perfect for park bench or our favorite pastime — stoop sitting.
The short of it is that we love this cropped version for how well it works with dresses and skirts and this Gap Classic under a wool topper for an extra layer of warm and cool. Everyone should have a blue jean jacket.
