I say “less is more” a lot, but it’s never more true than when it comes to my makeup in the summer. When it’s sticky and I’m sweaty, the last thing I want is a full face of makeup. The number one thing I reach for during the summer? Tinted moisturizer with some SPF. There’s no point in putting on a heavy coverage foundation if I’m just going to sweat it off! I have a few favorites, but the top one right now is Supergoop’s Protect(tint). Merit does a great job of distilling products down to the essentials, and their Uniform tint is another great addition to their offerings.
Skin-forward makeup looks are the best ones, where you look like yourself but just a little bit better. I love a highlighter for bringing back some of the dimension and dewiness into my skin. Westman Atelier’s Tinted Highlighter powder has the perfect amount of color and shine. For blush, Patrick Ta’s pink blush palette has a creme and powder option.
I’m no expert when it comes to eye makeup. I like it easy, and simple! So Victoria Beckham’s EyeWear eyeshadow stick has been a game changer for me. It can be an eyeliner or shadow, it glides on easily, and there are so many fun colors to pick from. After that, it just takes a few swipes of the Jones Road brow pencil to fluff out my brows and my favorite Chanel mascara to finish off the look. And remember: eyebrows are sisters, not twins.
The final touch? A swipe of lip gloss. I like something punchier in the summer, like this pretty bright pink from Chanel with the perfect amount of sparkle or a more hydrating lip slick from Merit.
