It’s no secret that we are firm believers in the power of the perfect white shirt. This season, though, we’ve started to notice the white shirt take a backseat to more colorful versions. And during a long, gray day, I’ve found that pink, blue, or even a pattern makes getting dressed feel a lot more fun. Shop our favorite colorful shirts now.
As you can tell by the header image, I’ve been drawn to blue lately. Here are a few of my white shirt go-tos, swapped out for a powdery blue: Jenni Kayne’s Boyfriend shirt, Kule’s The Hutton Oversized shirt, and J.Crew’s Garcon poplin shirt. There are a lot of pastels to choose from, but you could go really bold with the Yves Klein super-saturated shade of this J.Crew shirt. If you can never have enough blue, try this color blocked ME + EM shirt which features three different shades.
Nothing says spring like a petal pink pastel. Frank and Eileen’s Joely shirt in pretty pale pink will get you through the weeks until spring has sprung. I also love this shirt from F&E, which takes the same pink but also layers on a very thin navy stripe. If you’re playing around with color, don’t be afraid to also switch up your silhouette. I love the shape of this boxy oxford from Everlane, and the stripes keep it from feeling too oversized.
I love a stripe moment, and have been living out my Gordon Gekko fantasy with this contrast shirt from COS. I love the white collars and cuffs, plus the shirt comes in a blue stripe or a pink stripe. You know those gorgeous Amalfi coast umbrellas on the beach? That’s what this thicker, cabana-inspired stripe from Banana Republic or this one from J.Crew reminds me of.
