“Brown,” said no one ever, when asked to shout out a favorite color. That is, of course, totally contradicted when asked to name our favorite color shoes, boots, handbags or belts. In the leather goods category, brown is the gold standard of chic. A simple belt from Frame is so much more than that when fashioned in our favorite color.
Brown or saddle or peanut colored hues of leather convey the richest color notes. Leather that has been tanned in a more natural state is just well – more naturally lovely. Although different qualities of leather have different shades of brown, according to the mix of the materials used for tanning , brown leather ages and lightens or darkens according to sun exposure or contact with the skin like a much loved Burberry wallet is what gives its beautiful complex patina.
Is there anything chicer than an Hermes bag or belt in their signature peanut colored brown with white stitching? We don’t think so, but this classic brown carryall from Vince comes pretty close. We love brown shoes and handbags and belts because, unlike their uber-chic sibling, black, they say ‘We are sporting and confident and as glorious as the horse we rode in on.”
