As we look forward to spring, it’s time to also look at our jeans! A fresh new pair is an easy way to breathe new life into your wardrobe when you’re feeling a little uninspired. Spring is the best time for jeans, in my opinion. The weather is finally nice again, and you might as well slip into a kicky cropped pair. Or a fun wide leg statement jean with femme ballet flats for balance. Or a lighter wash to go with the newly sunny weather.
This year, it’s undeniable: skinny jeans are out. Of course, you can still wear them if you love them, but there’s a flood of new, interesting denim silhouettes that play with proportion in a fun way! Good American makes affordable, trendy denim in a diverse range of sizes. I love their Good 90s jeans with a high-waist and relaxed jeans, and the Good Waist pair has an even more dramatic flared leg.
Anine Bing’s wide-leg jeans has a slightly lower waist and raw-edge denim, bringing the brand’s signature amount of cool girl charm to the trend. Personally, I love it when a pair of jeans makes my legs look like tubes. There’s something deeply chic about the structure of it! Take one look at these Citizen of Humanities Annina jeans with a high waist, or these more low-slung Paloma jeans and maybe you’ll agree! J.Crew’s limited-edition denim collection also has a really great pair of this silhouette, in a deeply blue boyfriend-inspired fit.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money if you’re unsure about the trend! Dip a toe in with some affordable options from Mango, like this slouchy California-cool pair or a slightly more rigid, cropped pair.
