You did it! You made it on to Instagram. You like every single one of your kids posts, and their friends’s posts too. There are even a few pictures up on your own feed. Congratulations, you have mastered Level 1. And, if that’s enough for you, then ride it out there for a minute. But maybe you’ve noticed the glowing circles on the top of your timeline. Maybe you’ve watched them. Maybe you want to know what they are and don’t feel like asking your kids. Then this is the story for you!
Instagram stories are fun, easy, and only last 24 hours. They’re a great way to show your followers what you’re doing or what you’re into without having to go through the trouble of a post for it. Our fearless leader Susan Feldman walks you through the steps of posting your first Instagram story. If you’re doing it along with her, feel free to pause. And don’t worry, we also have the instructions underneath the video if it’s easier for you just to read.
If you’re posting a story from your camera roll:
- Open your Instagram app
- In the top left hand corner of the app, there’s a little camera. Press the camera.
- The camera opens up, and click on the screen in the bottom left.
- Your camera roll will open up. Select the picture you want to post.
- Touch the picture, and write a caption if you want.
- There’s a little circle with a plus sign that says Your Story. Press that.
- Voila! You posted your story!
If you’re taking a picture to post on your story:
- Open your Instagram app
- In the top left hand corner of the app, there’s a little camera. Press the camera.
- The big white button in the center of the screen takes the picture, so point and click!
- There’s a little circle with a plus sign that says Your Story. Press it.
- Congrats! You did it!
